Subject: Rectified AC for driving DC motor - by: leitmotif

OK I know that one should put ripple caps on rectified AC if using to drive DC motors.

In order of simplicity I would need to calculate

capacitor size given
1 motor parameters that dont change
2. change in motor speed by adjusting shunt field or by varying line voltage (harder)
3. Ripple cap that can reduce ripple from 0 to 100 % voltage and current (near impossible??)

Can we post some simple (??) formula and guidelines?
Is there any real demand for this?
Another one I use a lot. Assist you in determining what size conduit you need to run.
